About the World Dragon Boat Racing Championships

The International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) hosts the World Dragon Boat Racing Championships (aka the World Nations Championships, or Worlds) biennially in odd-numbered years. Worlds is held in different locations around the world each cycle, where participants represent their respective home country. For more general information about WDBRCs, visit the IDBF website.

In 1991. IDBF embraced the principles of anti-doping and enshrined in its Competition Regulations an Anti-Doping Policy and Rules. These measures have been implemented at IDBF World Championship Regattas ever since and revised, as and when required, to incorporate the Anti-Doping Rules for International Federations, promulgated by the World Anti-Doping Agency(WADA). - The 6th WDBRC was held as an additional WDBRC because of the postponement of the Shanghai WDBRC due to the SARS outbreak. This was retitled the 6th WDBRC as it was awarded after the 5th WDBRC, though it was held prior.
5th WDBRC - 2004 - Shanghai, China
- The 5th WDBRC was delayed by 1 year from 2003 to 2004 due to the SARS outbreak in Southeast Asia
4th WDBRC - 2001 - Philadelphia, PA, USA
- First IDBF event ever held in the US!
- Held alongside the North American Club Crew Championships
